Carlisle Police Chief involved in car crash while on duty

Categories: Uncategorized

Carlisle Police Chief Jason Doll is recovering from minor injuries after his police car was struck by a pickup truck Friday afternoon.

Doll was in an unmarked Buick Regal trying to respond to a medical call when the accident happened.

He said Tuesday that he has some sore muscles, but he’s hoping to be back to work by Thursday.

Doll was southbound on South 5th St. in an unmarked police car at approximately 3 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Bryce Moulton, 17, of Hartford, that was eastbound on Highway 5.

The traffic light was red when Doll tried to cross the four-lane highway but he did have his emergency lights flashing according to the accident report.

After the accident Doll was transported to Mercy Hospital by the Carlisle Fire Department.

The police car had an estimated $2,500 worth of damage and the Silverado sustained about $3,000 of damage.

The posted speed limit at the intersection on Highway 5 is 45 mph.

The Carlisle City Council sent a request two weeks ago to the Iowa Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit on Highway 5 down to 30 mph in school zones.
