Hurray for the Red.White.Blue

What says Americana more than the 4th of July and the parade that goes with it? One of my favorite things…a parade! The bands, vintage cars and trucks, the wild and crazy Za-Ga-Zig Shriners. Who doesn’t like the clowns? The floats? Heck, even the politicians get in on the act and don’t seem so intrusive and in.your.face.

Everyone is happy. The colors shout out our patriotic passions. Families line the streets, children at the ready for a piece of candy…or, bags full. Boy and girl scouts, little league teams, church groups and community organizations all entertain us. Countless hours are spent preparing for this annual event.

My very favorite parts come at the very beginning and the very end. We all rise, hands over our heart (at least that’s what I do) we stand at attention while the flag bearers pass. Awesome! Gratitude! Beautiful!
Then, at the very end, it’s either the horse and riders or our dedicated firemen and women, in the candy apple red fire trucks that close the parade down.

What is your favorite part of the 4th of July? Where is the best place in Warren County to spend the day and watch the fireworks? Hope it’s awesome, you’re filled with gratitude and the day is beautiful!
