The yellow speed slide installed at the Indianola Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in the spring of 2012 will be replaced later this summer, according to a news release from the Indianola Parks and Recreation Department.
After many repairs over the last year and discussions between the City and the slide contractors, the manufacturing company, Splashtacular, has decided that the materials used to build the slide are faulty and that they will be replacing the slide in its entirety.
They believe that a delamination of the fiberglass and gel coat is causing breaks in the glass that could cause injury to riders. The slide will remain closed until a new slide is installed later this summer, said the release.
“Our hope is to have the new slide installed by the first week of August,” the release said. “We apologize for the inconvenience. All other water features are still able to be enjoyed throughout the summer.”
