Well…are you getting things checked off your list?

It’s been so fun these Welcome Home Holiday Wreathpast couple of weeks; the hustle and bustle of the season. Everyone has a little bounce in their step, a cheery    greeting and a twinkle in their eye. It’s fun and it’s festive.

As the year comes to a close, our thoughts also turn to those who may not be as fortunate as many of us are. If you’ve not already done so, please consider sharing your blessings with others who may need your “presence” in your life; whether they know you or not. Whether you give through donations of cash, anonymously or purchase and donate through an area business. I have found that it gives me more pleasure than I could ever imagine.

The Helping Hand can always use non-perishable food items, especially this time of year. If you’d like to donate, but can’t get there during their hours of operation, drop your canned or boxed, bagged goods off at Burlap & Roses and I’ll make sure they get delivered. Now would be a great time to go through the kids toy boxes or purchase something new and donate to them, too. Many can use the help with gift giving; and gently used toys would be wonderful. Clothing, too.

I can’t thank those of you that shop ‘LOCAL’ enough. It does make a difference in so many ways. Indianola is a great community and I’m so pleased to be a part of the activity on The Square.

I also want to give a shout out to the ‘leaders’ in our community that have placed an importance on the health of the downtown. Hiring a progressive and ‘get it done’ visionary to lead the city has been awesome. Just the mere fact that the merchants or Chamber committees no longer have to take responsibility for the planting, watering, weeding of the planters that are around The Square is huge. Our downtown environment is looking pretty and inviting…year around. Thanks!

Hiring a marketing person to gather ideas, help with the vision for our community and setting forth to bring Indianola to the attention of locals and out-of-towners is even bigger. We need both. Those that live in Indianola, we NEED you…not just to shop and use the services in-town, but it’s even bigger than that. Help spread the word. Share the delights of our community with your co-workers, family and friends. Tourism is huge…Indianola needs a piece of that pie. Word-of-mouth is the best marketing tool we have. Share, share and share some more.

As the year winds down, I would be remiss if I didn’t let you know how much you are valued and appreciated. I can’t thank my customers and passerby enough for their kind words and encouragement of my efforts to bring awareness of The Square, Indianola and Warren County as a whole. We all win when we work together. If my colleagues aren’t successful, neither am I. If I’m not successful, they won’t be either…in the big scheme of things. Thanks, thanks and more thanks. Merriest of Christmas Days to each of you and all the BEST in the New Year!
